1. Create a new canvas, pick your dimensions, and name if you want to. I’m just going to put in a few steps so you don’t blend into transparency or anything, if you can.
2. First, check to make sure your colours are black and white. Then, go, at the top, to Filter > Render > Clouds.
3. Now, if you don’t have any, go to
www.deviantart.com, search Grunge Brushes, and get around 5-10 brush downloads, move the .abr’s to your Brush Presets, rename them if you want. Default location would be C:\Program Files\Adobe\PhotoshopCS4(or whatever version you have)\Presets\Brushes. Brush over your sig in black and white, new layers every time you change colour, until you have a nice grunge background.
4. Now, add your render in. If you don’t know a good place,
www.planetrenders.net is one of the best Render sites available, I usually get mine from there, or a render pack I found, don’t remember where. Add in your render. Resize it to your liking, and after resizing, duplicate it.
5. Now, hide the top render, and on the bottom render, press Ctrl+Shift+U. This desaturates the render, so it already, in a way, blends.
6. Time for blending. On the bottom render, take out your lasso tool, or press L. Rougly sketch the outside of your render, not precise, like so.
7. Now, with the lasso tool selected, right click inside your selection, and click feather. Make it 10-15 pixels.
8. Right above feather, if you right click again, it says “select inverse”. Click that.
9. Now, with the inverse selected, hit the Delete key on your keyboard, and you’ll get this.
10.(Optional Step) If you think you want more of the render to show, unhide your render that you duplicated in step 4. Desaturate it(Ctrl+Shift+U) and lower the opacity, around 10-30%, depending on how much you want to show. I set mine to 25%.
Great, now you know an easy, yet effective way to blend! Thanks for spending your time to look at this
